Meet the Ocean Air Staff
Erin Hay Director of Sales Erin Hay has been an active aircraft sales professional in Northern California for the past 7 years successfully managing a Cessna aircraft dealership and developing an extensive network of customers, and aircraft industry partners. Her integrity, aircraft knowledge and her gift for building relationships are the cornerstones for her exceptional customer service. Erin is a Private Pilot with a passion for aviation and an appreciation for the unique and interesting culture of pilots that make up the General Aviation community. Her extensive knowledge of aircraft and enthusiasm for aviation originates with her family of military, commercial and general aviation pilots, and continues today with ongoing education, market research, and a well connected web of industry relationships.
Flight Instruction
Harry Ishikawa Certified Flight Instructor, Chief Pilot Harry brings many years of successful small business ownership and extensive flying experience to his role as CFI. He is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz and fluent in Japanese. Harry has been instructing on a part time basis for over two years. His first love is flying and this enthusiasm rubs off quickly on his students. They also enjoy his clear and concise way of teaching and his in depth knowledge of aviation.
Joe Evans Certified Flight Instructor Joe Evans has been flying since obtaining his private pilot certificate in 1992 in Livermore California. After obtaining a Bachelors degree in Aviation Operations from San Jose State University he was commissioned in the Marine Corps flying the F/A-18 Hornet. His ten years of military service culminated as an Advanced Jet flight instructor teaching Air to Ground and Air to Air tactics to Navy and Marine Corp student Naval Aviators. He has an MBA from UC Davis and enjoys helping with his local family business. He is most proud of his daughter and son who are a his pride and joy. Joe immensely enjoys teaching and flying. He has an ATP and CFII, but has also done some other neat things the FAA does not give ratings for (like landing on boats at night).
Rick Macleod Certified Flight Instructor Rick is an ATP rated CFII with broad experience giving flight instruction, including instrument, multi-engine and tailwheel.
Amber Howard Certified Flight Instructor Amber is an ATP rated CFII providing highly personalized flight instruction for private and instrument certificates.
Steve Blackwell Certified Flight Instructor With 10,000 hours in the air, Steve has flown repeatedly coast to coast in
aircraft and helicopters for fun as well as teaching.
He has worked with students toward private, commercial, instrument and
instructor level ratings as well as high performance, tail wheel and spin
endorsements for many years.
All of his students maintain a 100% first time pass rate for both the
written and practical flight test.
He was one of the first instructors in the area to begin providing light
sport instruction and has
accumulated hundreds of hours in Tecnam aircraft as well as many of the
other light sport aircraft available today.
Steve owns a Citabria and is an experienced instructor in many tail-wheel
aircraft, from Cubs and Champs and Cessnas to Stearmans and RVs as well as
many other models of experimental and certified aircraft.
Maintenace Department
Dudley Clark Chief Inspector Dudley served in the U.S. Navy, on Midway Island and at NAS Miramar. After graduating from San Jose State University, Dudley obtained his Airframe and Power-Plant licenses and later his Inspection Authorization. He has attended Lycoming Factory School, Continental Training Classes, Piper Factory School, Cessna Training Classes, and Robinson Helicopter certification in addition to time spent at a Mooney Service Center. Dudley also has has training in several turboprop aircraft, has run an engine overhaul shop, worked at a prop repair station, and has served as a Designated Mechanics Examiner for the FAA. He most recently completed Rotax and LSA repairman certification courses.
Ryan Williams Mechanic Ryan holds a FAA airframe maintenance certification and is currently completing his powerplant certification, as well as his private pilot airplane certification. He will complete his Rotax 912 certification in 2010.
Administration
James Taylor Office Manager James is the friendly and helpful voice answering the phones, scheduling flight instruction and aircraft rental, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of Ocean Air. He is always more than happy to help with with any of your questions or scheduling needs or to proctor your LaserGrade exam!
